ABOUT THE ARTIST
Carrie Kohles’ attention to the simple tone of nature or her detail of a horse’s gaze or muscle structure comes from her heart. Growing up in the Basin and living in the shadow of Charlie Russell, her course was set long ago.
As a child she ran wild in the Montana plains, mountains, and streams. It’s no surprise, really, that she’s self-taught because she was driven at an early age to transfer what she saw and dreamt onto paper.
Carrie’s work has won awards in national and international art shows, was featured in solo shows, and has been included in several museum exhibits.
