Driftbound Sentinel
Driftbound Sentinel emerges from the quiet storms of winter, a bison cloaked in warmth against an icy breath that seems to whisper through the snowflakes resting on its rugged fur. I wanted to capture the stillness of that moment—where strength and vulnerability exist side by side, where the wind carries both chill and resilience. Painting with wet ink and acrylic allowed me to blend the edges of form and atmosphere, evoking a presence that is both tangible and elusive. In this work, the bison is more than an animal; it is a guardian of silent, shifting landscapes, standing watch as seasons blur and transform.
Original Painting Painting is Acrylic and Chinese Ink on Watercolor paper that is mounted onto hardboard and varnished with a UV Protectant varnish. The frame for this painting is handmade by Twisted Timbers Custom Woodwork and is built out of an old barn wood from buildings in Montana. Painting dimensions: 24 × 14.
